I woke up by the water. I don’t know how long I was out for, but the water wasn’t pulsing when I woke up, it was ordinary and I felt nothing from it. The sense of peace was gone and I remember longing for it back. I touched the water, but still nothing. I sat there for a while wondering what had happened, but I eventually made my way back to the same narrow hole in the bush that I’d climbed through. On the way back out, I covered it over as best I could with the broken branches laying around it.

I am writing more than I had expected when I put pen to paper, but writing about it excites me, it takes me back to that peace and what the peace gave me.

I have magic flowing through me now. I felt it for the first time next to the river. It tingled within me, like ants running under my skin. It wasn’t unpleasant, but felt like…potential. Like I could let loose at any minute if I needed to relieve the pressure from within. I felt the longing to. It was itching to get out. I tightened my fists and released them by my sides, leading to a rush of air, a rush of wind sprawling out with me in the epicentre, in the eye of the storm. It dissipated and I remember looking at my hands, not believing. But I do remember thinking one thing, for the first time in my life: I can’t wait to see Hemm.
